The 2 charcoal pencils (4B, 6B) are oil-free and blendable. These original charcoal pencils are often referred to as "red hots" by artists across the U.S.A.

The 3 compressed charcoal sticks (2B, 4B, 6B)are versatile; draw broad strokes with the flat edge, use for rubbings, or sharpen with a sandpaper paddle to create fine points for detailed work. 

The 4 charcoal sticks (thin, medium, thick) are pure willow and often referred to as "vine" - a natural drawing medium that creates velvety smooth drawings.

All 3 types of charcoal can be combined to achieve many tonal values and interesting highlights.
